María Corina Machado, Venezuelan opposition leader and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, left Venezuela clandestinely in December 2025 to collect the award in Oslo. Nine months later, she remains outside her country. So far she has made seven unsuccessful attempts to return.
The most recent efforts took place this week from Panama. In less than 24 hours, three plans collapsed: a maritime departure canceled over alleged mechanical problems with the boat, a flight to Aruba that never took off, and another to Curaçao that also failed. Those were attempts five, six and seven.
Earlier, after the June 2026 earthquakes, she also tried to approach via Curaçao from the United States and later from Panama. Both plans were aborted. At the time Machado denounced the closure of commercial airspace and threats against those helping her return. She said she wanted to enter to stand with the victims and help during the emergency.
The situation is complicated: she does not have a valid Venezuelan passport, Washington has sent mixed signals about supporting an immediate return, and Venezuelan authorities have not facilitated her entry. She maintains that she is a Venezuelan citizen and that the time to be in the country has come. “I am ready and close to Venezuela, and I will do whatever it takes for us to meet there,” she has said. So far, none of the seven attempts has succeeded.
Reconocimiento a María Corina Machado Parisca
Honor a quien honor merece.

Support for the Shield of America Initiative
We firmly support the visionary leadership of this conservative entrepreneur and president in advancing the Shield of America (Escudo de América)—an outstanding initiative designed to safeguard the Western Hemisphere from the threats of communism and external ideological interference.
This bold proposal echoes the enduring principles of the Monroe Doctrine, famously summarized as “America for the Americans,” which affirmed the sovereignty of the nations of the Americas and rejected foreign domination of our shared continent. It also recalls the constructive spirit of President John F. Kennedy’s Alliance for Progress, which sought to strengthen economic development, democratic institutions, and mutual cooperation across the Americas.
By promoting security, prosperity, and independence throughout the hemisphere, the Shield of America represents a timely and necessary commitment to protecting freedom, free enterprise, and national sovereignty. We applaud this excellent initiative and stand ready to support its success for the benefit of all the peoples of the Americas.
Having watched Secretary Rubio’s interpellation in the National Congress today, August 16, I see that there are senators who truly disappoint, as they are completely unaware of the REALITY of Venezuela —
of course, with a very few exceptions.
Marco Rubio has been extremely clear, explicit, and accurate in his excellent responses.
EXCELLENT RESPONSES FROM MARCO RUBIO IN CONGRESS !!!
Dear President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio,
I write to express my profound recognition and gratitude for your decisive action on January 3, 2026. The bold operation that led to the apprehension of Nicolás Maduro represented a firm stand against narco-terrorism and a long-overdue step toward restoring security and stability in our hemisphere.
Your leadership demonstrated unwavering commitment to justice and to protecting the interests of the United States and the Venezuelan people. Thank you for acting decisively where others hesitated.
At the same time, I must respectfully note my deep confusion and concern regarding the recognition of Venezuela’s sovereign will.
In the 2024 presidential election, the overwhelming evidence—including detailed vote tallies from a vast majority of polling stations—showed that Edmundo González Urrutia, supported by María Corina Machado, won by a landslide, with the Venezuelan people expressing their clear and resounding choice for democratic change.
If the United States and the international community rightly acknowledged this sovereign decision of the Venezuelan people at the time, why has full and unequivocal recognition of their elected leadership not translated into faster, more decisive support for a genuine democratic transition? The Venezuelan people voted massively and peacefully for change. Their voice must be honored without ambiguity.
Your recent actions have opened a critical window of opportunity. I urge you to continue leading with the same strength and clarity, ensuring that the legitimate will of the Venezuelan people—expressed so powerfully in 2024—guides the path forward to free, fair, and transparent elections, the return of exiles, and the full restoration of democracy.
Thank you once again for your commitment to truth, justice, and freedom in our region.
